HerbMedPro (HMP) is an interactive, electronic herbal database that provides hyperlinked access to the scientific data underlying the use of herbs for health. Access to this powerful database is a benefit of membership in the American Botanical Council at the Academic level and above.
ABC very recently launched the Adopt-an-Herb program, which allows companies or individuals to "adopt" an herb thus helping prioritize which of the 200 plus herbs in HMP gets updated regularly and which new herbs are added to the database.
Two companies have officially kicked off the Adopt-an-Herb program. Tea (Camellia sinensis, Theaceae) has been adopted by Tea Dragon Films and arnica (Arnica montana, Asteraceae) has been adopted by Naturopathica. Tea has already been updated and arnica is currently being updated. For information on adopting herbs in HerbMedPro, please contact ABC’s development director by email or by calling 512-926-4900, ext. 120.

HMP was developed by Jackie Wootton, M. Ed., and the Alternative Medicine Foundation (AMF) and continues to be directed and curated by Ms. Wootton. In February 2008, the American Botanical Council (ABC) partnered with AMF to administer HMP. As part of its administrative role, ABC strives to promote HMP through licensing it as content on other Web sites, by selling yearly subscriptions to the database to both individuals and businesses, and by offering a Pay-per-Day option that allows researchers and other interested parties 48 hour access to the database for $9.95.
