September 1-5,2008:2nd International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) International Humulus Symposium.Ghent, Belgium. The Symposium is sponsored by the ISHS Commission on Plant Genetic Resources and the ISHS Section on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, in collaboration with the Ghent University, the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO), Merelbeke, and KaHo Sint-Lieven (KaHoSL), Ghent. The Symposium will be held at the conference facilities of ILVO in Melle (near Ghent), Belgium. Transport between the Ghent city centre hotels and the conference site will be organized.

It is the aim to explore the progress being made on various aspects of hop research to be organized in 4 sections:

Section 1 - Hops, Breeding, and Molecular Genetics
Section 2 - Hops, Cultivation, and Management
Section 3 - Hops and Health
Section 4 - Hops and Beer

The program will include lectures by invited speakers, oral presentations, and poster sessions. The official language of the Symposium will be English. The proceedings of the Symposium will be published by ISHS as an Acta Horticulturae volume.
