FWD 2 Botanical Adulterants Monitor

Skullcap Laboratory Guidance Document to be Published

After extensive peer review, the first Laboratory Guidance Document (LGD) is in its final stage of publication. Last-minute additions include the images of high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) chromatograms of Scutellaria lateriflora (Lamiaceae) and its known adulterants that were generously provided by CAMAG Scientific, Inc. (Wilmington, NC), and an evaluation of a near-infrared spectroscopy hyperspectral imaging method to detect adulteration of skullcap. Part of its publication will be a short overview on the LGDs, including the purpose and scope of the documents and a summary of the contents. The short overview has also been peer-reviewed by experts in the field and will provide important general information on the appropriate use of the upcoming series of LGDs.
