At ABC we envision a healthier world through herbs - a world where people make educated, responsible choices about herbal medicine as an accepted part of their healthcare and selfcare regimen. Every day we at ABC strive to make our vision a reality through our nonprofit educational programs and services such as HerbalGram, HerbClipTM, internships, and continuing education courses.

Since 1988, ABC has been educating consumers, healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, industry, government and media around the world.

As an independent, nonprofit educational organization, ABC depends on the financial support of people like you to fund our work. You can help make the world a healthier place, naturally, by supporting ABC's educational work through your donation of time, treasure or talent.

Join ABC today! You'll receive valuable benefits including instant access to ABC's educational publications through this password-protected website. In addition, you'll be supporting our vital nonprofit mission.

Please, review ABC’s membership benefits. With so many options available, we’re sure you’ll find one that’s right for you. Together we can help ourselves and others live healthier, naturally.

You can also support ABC by making a tax-deductible general donation to ABC or to a specific ABC program.

Membership and donation revenue account for approximately 75% of ABC's total annual income; most of the remaining 25% comes from advertising revenue and sales of educational materials.

ABC is registered with the IRS as a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Portions of Membership contributions are also tax-deductible. For more details on fair market value of benefits of ABC Membership, contact our Membership department.

Donate

ABC encourages people and organizations to provide general support for ABC's research and educational work. Donations are essential for ABC to achieve its mission and remain financially stable.

Make a tax-deductible contribution today for general unrestricted support of ABC, which allows us to put your money where we believe it will do the most good, or designate your gift to support one of the following ABC projects:

Internship Fund
Year round ABC offers internships for students in their final year of study in pharmacy and dietetic disciplines. These internships expose these conventionally trained young professionals to the science of herbs. For many interns it is their first experience with medicinal herbs. They work in herb gardens, make decocotions, and, most importantly, learn how to research herb efficacy and uses to integrate into their upcoming practices.

Adopt-an-Herb
Adopting-an-Herb is an exciting and mutually beneficial way for companies or individuals to support ABC's nonprofit educational mission. As the adopter, each organization is recognized by ABC in multiple ways including print and the web.

An individual or company selects the herb they wish to adopt. Adoption funds help ensure that information on the adopted herb(s) is kept up-to-date in the HerbMedPro database on ABC's website. This enables consumers, researchers, educators, media, health practitioners, government agencies, members of industry (including retailers and other) to have easy access, through HerbMedPro on ABC’s website, to the abstracts of the latest scientific and clinical publications on the many aspects, properties, and benefits of the adopted herb.

Contact the Development Department for information on how you can adopt an herb.

HerbMedPro is an interactive, impartial and evidence-based herbal database that provides hyperlinked access to abstracts of the scientific and clinical publications containing data underlying the use of more that 200 herbs and phytomedicines commonly used for various health purposes.

Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund was established by the Board of Trustees in 2003 to provide for ABC’s long-term future and financial stability.

Volunteer Opportunities

We're Growing and Growing and Growing...

The American Botanical Council moved to its new site in 1998, the historic Case Mill Homestead,  6200 Manor Road, Austin, Texas, where we have many demonstration herbal theme gardens. Volunteers play an integral part in helping the gardens, and thus the organization, continue to flourish and grow. We can always use help in the gardens and occasionally in other areas on Mondays through Fridays.  Here's how YOU can grow with us!

VOLUNTEER  - The First Step:
Complete our volunteer application if you are able to volunteer at our Austin, Texas location. After reviewing your application one of our staff members will contact you. Thank you so much for considering making us a part of your life.  Volunteer contributions are greatly appreciated.
