Herbalist Michael Tierra Receives ABC Community Builder Award By ABC Staff Herbalist and acupuncturist Michael Tierra, who, with other herbalists, established the American Herbalists Guild in 1989, is the recipient of ABC’s 2015 Mark Blumenthal Community Builder Award. Tierra is also a classical pianist, and he recently helped establish the East West Free Herbal Clinic to provide free treatment to the underserved in the community and free training to young herbalists.
