Where Do Herbs Come From and Why Does it Matter?
|
|
Ann Armbrecht started the Sustainable Herbs Program because she was struck between the values of herbal medicine and the reality of sourcing herbs on the international market where they are no different than any other commodity. Herbalists use medicines made from plants because of the promise that they are better for our health - and yet often the very industry producing those remedies threatens the ecological and cultural biodiversity on which we all depend. In what ways can herbalists as teachers and clinicians incorporate knowledge about sourcing and processing herbal products into teaching and practicing so they further the values at the heart of herbal medicine? In this webinar, Ann will share stories, photos, and some video from her travels following herbs through the supply chain to make visible the people and places behind the herbs used in most herbal products in the market. She'll then talk about ways herbalists can incorporate this knowledge into decisions about which herbs to use in their practice. She'll also talk about teaching ideas for bringing this awareness to our students. Register for this webinar. Date:
