Medicinal Plant Walk and Acorn Preparation with Dr. James Adams
|
|
Join Lanny Kaufer and special guest Professor Jim Adams of USC School of Pharmacology just upstream from the famous and scenic Wheeler Gorge as we identify wild plants in riparian and chaparral habitats and discuss the many ways they can be used for food, medicine, crafts, survival, landscaping and more. This will be a easy-paced walk of about 1 mile round trip on a mostly level trail with gradual elevation gain for the first half and downhill for the second half. Parts of the trail are alongside a running stream. It is suitable for hikers of all levels of ability. Following the walk, we will gather outside the Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center for a demonstration of preparing acorns for eating.
