The world watched in horror last year as the Amazon burned—a fiery inferno that incinerated animals, plants, and the homes of uncontacted tribes. But who knew that the same Amazon has also been called the world’s ‘medicine cabinet,’ filled with plants and fungi with unknown healing powers? This according to a recent New York Times Op-Ed by world-renowned Amazon expert and co-founder of the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT), Dr. Mark J. Plotkin, Ph.D. Even in the age of high tech, the Amazon rainforest has yet to reveal all her secrets and healing potential. New species are found regularly, and thousands of plants with healing powers have yet to be assessed for their therapeutic potential. All this, and more, will be shared by Dr. Plotkin during the virtual launch of his newest book, “The Amazon: What Everyone Needs to Know,” produced by Deborah Mitchell Media & Associates, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. EST. Event hashtag: #AmazoniaFuture. The live-streamed launch will be moderated by Rene Syler, author and former anchor of CBS-TV’s The Early Show. She will be joined by Tico Torres, Board Member of the Amazon Conservation Team, drummer and songwriter for the classic rock band Bon Jovi and Founder of the Tico Torres Children Foundation. Date:
