Course Overview
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an emerging biotherapeutic, microbial medicine. It's the only intervention that has been shown in the scientific literature to reliably cure antibiotic-resistant CDI. FMT can help some patients with colonic inflammatory bowel disease enter extensive or permanent symptom-free/drug-free remission, and may benefit patients with IBS and other conditions. The FDA has issued guidance on FMT, classifying it as a drug and a biotherapeutic agent.
